How to Create the Referral Tracker Link to Track Hubpages Sign-Ups

Many people ask how to create the HubPages Referral Tracker in the proper format for HubPages.

That's the referral code that can help you make more affiliate money on HubPages.

Below I will show you how, as simply as possible.

Before you try using the HubPages Referral Tracker make sure you have signed up for and been approved by Google (Adsense).

*Those are the Google advertisements that you see on many pages here and elsewhere. You can make money from the sharing of advertisements on HubPages.

Click on My Account, which is located in the upper right corner of the HubPages window.

Select Earnings, which is located on the left side of the screen.

On the left side you should see 2 options. Select Referral Trackers. It should now be green in color.

At the bottom you should see Create a New Tracker.

Type in the Tracking Token using whatever words and numbers you want for your HubPages Tracker.

Give it a simple description.

In the example I typed in "signup", which is probably not available for anyone else to use.

Create your own variation.

It should look like the code below.

In other words, you need an underscore (Like this: _ ) and then the referral tracker code.

So it would look like _YOURTRACKERCODE

Now that I've created a Referral Tracker what should I do?

Well, by using the Referral Tracker Code in the various formats listed above, you can then do any or all of the following:

1. Add a link in your Profile.
2. Add links to your Hubs.
3. Add links in forum signatures.
4. Write articles about how you can make money, why you love HubPages, or where you like to write, etc.
5. Email your friends and mention HubPages, using one of your Referral code formats.
6. Share it on Twitter, Facebook, or other social networks in which you have a bunch of followers.
7. Add it to your own blog(s).
   
8. Add it to your own website.

The real examples are using my referral tracker code, which is http://hubpages.com/_SIGNUPTRITRAIN for anyone that would be signing up in general, using my signup code.

Again, the tracking code is mine. You would create your own for people to be referred to you.

If I want them to go to the official HubPages Sign Up page, then I would use http://hubpages.com/_SIGNUPTRITRAIN/user/new

Referral Trackers

• tracking token - The tracking code that you created
• traffic views - How many people have visited your code
• signups - How many people have signed up via your tracking code
• hubs- How many Hubs were created by people that signed up under your tracking code
  
• traffic to hubs - How much web traffic to all these Hubs have received
  

When someone is referred by your referral tracker code HubPages splits the impressions with you and you get an additional 3% of the total Google Adsense impressions.

In other words, if you send traffic to any Hub, you’re entitled to either 9% or 12% of total impressions. You’ll receive 9% if the Hub you’ve referred people to already has impressions allocated to an Affiliate. If there are no Affiliates, you’ll receive 12% of the total impressions.

On all other non-Hub pages, such as a referral to a Tag page or the HubPages home page, you’ll receive 30% on a traffic referral, with HubPages getting the rest of the impressions.

According to HubPages, the Traffic Referrals are yours for 120 minutes.

So, "if someone clicks on your" referral code "link to a specific Hub, you are entitled to the traffic referral impressions for 120 minutes. We set this limit because there may be multiple Hubbers referring people to a particular Hub. No other tracker can replace yours during that 120 minute period. This is called the ‘first dibs’ rule."
